"YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF"

The building of a new orphanage in Kampala Uganda is underway and its existence is vitally necessary in the community.  The present conditions are sub-standard with overcrowding and a general lack of everything.  The very real need for the larger facility is obvious.  The new orphanage being constructed will supply housing, medical and schooling needs for over 500 children. The property gifted to them is large, so expansion is possible. The make-shift place they now have, no longer can handle the increasing need and the ever increasing number of children who need their help.

Who can say, "no, we can't help" to an orphaned child who has nowhere else to turn? Bishop Ruhasha Dickson and staff have big unselfish hearts and are filling a real need by caring for the children left alone and forgotten.

No gift is unappreciated, whether big or small. The children need everything. Your gift will continue giving for generations, a gift in your family's name, a memorial, or simply a love gift.

Ideas:

Exterior Construction: A classroom, a bedroom, the kitchen, the infirmary, the chapel, bathrooms, electric lights

Interior needs: Beds, chairs, desks, lamps, black boards, refrigerator, stove, toilets, sinks, showers and tubs, and the list goes on and on.

For example:

A bedroom:  Mattress, bed frame, and bedding will cost $1300.00 US

A kitchen:  A stove and refrigerator  will cost $1200.00 US

A laundry: A washer and dryer will cost  $600.00

In addition to the general finishes, the children will always have a need for books, toys/sport equipment and clothing

We also went to Nairobi Kenya, where there were orphans everywhere too. The orphanage we visited in Nairobi did not have as many children, however, it was my sense that there were more orphanages in Nairobi then there are in Kampala. The particular orphanage we visited was in Nairobi's slum.  It was clean and the children were well cared for in spite of its' very meager conditions. The committed teachers, staff, and Ms. Sophia, the director, were so loving and poured themselves out to the children. It was such a blessing to see the love they have for the children.
