50% of Uganda’s population is 14 years old and younger.
Because of the genocide and the HIV epidemic, many children are left to fend
for themselves on the streets. The fortunate ones find themselves in an
orphanage where they can get food and shelter. In September of 2009, a team went to
Kampala Uganda to Friends Orphanage School where we saw first hand over five
hundred children who had been rescued. The conditions in the slums are
like nothing we have ever seen. We as Americans can not imagine how four or more
people can live in a 10 x 12 one room house with dirt floors, a tin roof, a piece
of fabric for a door, no kitchen, no bathroom, and a curtain dividing living
from bed rooms.
We traveled across town and saw land that had been given to the
orphanage by a local doctor. A Government grant was given to the
orphanage to get the project started, however it is only a beginning. The
plan is to have classrooms, an infirmary, a chapel, and two dormitories with
bathrooms and a kitchen.
Command Two is a non-profit ministry that takes seriously the
second greatest command, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” We
seek to encourage people at home, work, and school to express love, grace and
mercy. We seek to encourage people to work together and build relationships.
We want to be good neighbors to the ones God puts before us.
Will you help Command Two (501C3) and Friends Orphans School build this
new orphanage? Your loving donations will be spent in full on the brick.
mortar, and interior furnishings.
